Nestled in the lush Guji region, the Kayon Mountain Farm stands proud at an impressive 1900–2200 meters above sea level (MASL). This farm isn't just any farm; it's a testament to passion and dedication! Owned and operated by Ismael and his family since 2012, the Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm has blossomed into a beacon of excellence. With a team of 25 full-time and 300 seasonal employees, this farm does more than just grow coffee. They’re committed to the community, offering free transportation and financial support for local schools and administrative buildings.

This coffee from Kayon Mountain Farm is an organic treat, offering a unique tasting profile that's truly captivating. After roasting, the beans reveal cooked berry and dried black tea flavors. Theres a bit of wine-like qualities and a mellow, fruit-like sweetness. It's such a delight!

Ethiopia's Coffee Legacy

Ethiopia is often revered as the “birthplace” of Arabica coffee. Unlike other coffee-growing countries where coffee was introduced as a cash crop, in Ethiopia, coffee cultivation, processing, and consumption are woven into everyday life. The trees, discovered growing wild in forests, were eventually cultivated for household use and commercial sale. The Guji region, with its beautiful forests and rich history, is the perfect backdrop for this exceptional coffee.

The Coffee

This Ethiopian gem is processed using the natural method, also known as the dry or sundried process. This traditional technique, rooted deeply in Ethiopian culture, involves drying the coffee cherries in the sun without removing the fruit. The result? The beans absorb the pulp and sugars, enriching them with the fruit’s natural flavors. The drying process can take anywhere from 8 to 25 days, depending on the weather. This meticulous care is evident in every bean.
