The Coffee Farm
Colombia is home to some of the best coffee beans in the world. The Castillo coffee plants thrive underneath shade in this tropical climate, and as I type this post I'm thinking "Girl, Same!" Colombia is the fourth-largest country in South America so more specifically this iced coffee is sourced from the El Tambo, Cauca region. Here an organization called ASMUCAFE, which stands for Asociación de Mujeres Agropecuarias de Uribe, is who we have to thank for the wonderful flavor of this coffee! This organization is made up of women farmers and landowners in El Tambo, a municipality within Cauca, Colombia. These incredible female farmers are dedicated to improving their families' lives through coffee farming and community empowerment. Women in coffee! We love to see it and support it! The coffee is cultivated, picked, double fermented, and washed before drying in the sun. Each step in the process imparting unique flavors into the coffee, one-of-a-kind, like a fingerprint. Switters Microbrewery
Here at Switters in Nashville, TN, Adam is passionate about seeking out exciting new coffee profiles, sample roasting, cupping and collaborating with Switters owner Sheri, on which coffee will become our next small batch Single O. In their tastings and discussions, what stood out to them the most about this coffee from Colombia was the complex balance between savory, sweet and tart. It was a clear winner among the other Single Origin options at the time. With a little more finessing of the roasting process, these lightly roasted beans result in having flavors reminiscent of Cocoa, Grapefruit and Praline. Next Adam passes the baton to Rob, our beloved Brewmeister, and Lord of The Brew. Rob is a coffee brewing wizard. You should see how much iced coffee this mortal man can brew in a single day, especially in peak iced coffee season. Rob is meticulous about the quality of the grind, water to coffee ratio, and brewing temperature. In no time at all the hot brewed coffee is flash chilled and nitrogenized for packaging. A quick taste for quality control and we're ready to send this batch through the canning line!
Yacht Rock
Prepare yourself, this iced coffee has a complexity of flavor that is mind-blowing so explaining it to you is going to get a little quirky! We're a collection of coffee-loving nerds here at Switters and this is a coffee that took us by surprise and won over our hearts. This Single Origin delivers an exciting mix of tartness, sweetness, and SAVORY flavor that will leave you craving sip after sip. Most of the cold brews you're used to tasting are bold, bitter chocolate one-note brews. And this is why our flash chilled stands out, because we used lightly roasted beans, brewed at hot temps and rapidly cooled we are able to capture the subtlety of flavor like you experience in a coffee-shop pour over, as an iced coffee! Ok so knowing this is a quirky flavor profile and these are words on a screen, not physical coffee for you to taste and experience first-hand, let me paint a picture for you.
